I bought a male to go with my female blue ram, since my "fake male" recently died :( and my LFS got a new stock of them.
I had a chat with the owner and he made sure i got a male this time (the others were from another, not as knowledgable shop) and he said that if they don't get along i can bring him back and try another male or just get my money back, so i was happy :)

They've been in a day but they keep chasing each other, my female chased the male when i put them in to the point that my male was quite frantically swimming, so i took both out, reorganised my tank and put them both back in after an hour or so. This seemed to sort things out, if inaything th male was more dominant! But a day later and myfemale's chasing the male again. He's not frantic, but loses his beautiful colouring when she chases him.

I wanted some advice on whether they would calm down or if i should try another male? what would people suggest? I just want them to both be happy :(

Sorry for rambling on! ha!

I think it will take awhile for them to establish a pecking order. It might take several days and, even once it's established, it may change now and then. My opinion is that as long as the chasing doesn't continue relentlessly and to the point of really stressing the lesser fish, it's just the way fish figure things out, and go right along with it.

By reorganizing the tank, does that mean you made a couple/three little cave or protected habitats so each can be out of sight and out of mind of the other? If so, good thing.

In there at the moment i have a slate cave, and two pieces of wood lent together to make a little cave, but i was also thinking of putting a coconut cave in there, think that might help?
Thanks for the advice :)
