Blue ram (new)

Hello bought two blue rams yesterday. When i put them in the tank i noticed one was missing a fin or two from its dorsal this morning it was lying on its side. Do blue rams lie on the bottom of the tank too? He seems to be up and swimmming as I type. But i would like to know now as my lfs only has a 2 day policy. =[ TIA

I just added my blue ram from my 29 gallon to my 120 gallon and he swam straight for the bottom and just kind of sat there, but he didn't lay. Is yours laying on its side? What is the water like? Any other fish that could be bullying him? Blue rams are a very fragile fish and I've heard of some of them dying without a cause.

=] Just two blue ram in a 25 gallon. and i looked as im typing this he is now dead =[. the other is fine. Like i say he was missing a piece of his dorsal fins so maybe he was sick/injured when i got him.

sorry to hear about your loss . They are fantastic little fish.

Were they a pair, i.e. one male, one female? I understand they love to be kept in pairs. If you had two males perhaps the dominant one was picking on the sub-dominant?

NB. check what sex your surviving ram is and make sure you get a partner for him/her as soon as you have checked all your water parameters are ok. The one ram on it's own will get lonely and may ending up dieing too.

I BELIEVE they were a pair (m/f) one looked more yellow and the other more pink (as i read is the sexing method) But im not an expert . Another way, of course, is that black dorsal and since the one that died was clearly missing a middle section of his mohawk it was hard to tell. I dont think they were very healty when i got them and the survivor is ,unfortunately, going back today also. Thanks for ya condolences and insight =]

yer I have two blue rams and they are really nice. They are really sensitive fish and catch whitespot very easilly but the fish have lots of character and allways suck at my hand when I am feeding them lol
