Blue Ram/German Ram question

got myself a 55-gallon, already cycled. The person I got the tank from already had a pair of kissing guorami (4 and 5 inches), and a blue guorami (4 inches)...so far ive only added a pair of dwarf guorami's, and im looking to add to the tank. I was at my lfs and i saw blue rams (they were called german rams..guess theyre the same thing?). I really want to get a few of these fish. are they good community fish, and if so how many are a good idea? thanks in advance.

I have two german blues in my community tank and they're awesome.

I must say I'm a little worried about the stocking of the ten gallon at the bottom of your sig.. perhaps you should put the convict and the blood parrot in a larger tank. Since a 40g will hold two BPs and only two BPs [gathering from what I saw on another post in the forum], a ten gallon with a BP, a convict, 3 barbs and a pleco [common, I'm assuming, and they can turn into 2 foot long monsters] is just not enough.

in a 55 gallon you could easily fit in 4 pairs in there as they are not agressive fish. territorial, but not with a passion.

I must also recommend you move the pleco, blood parrot and cichlid though. I'm guessing your convict and blood parrot are small because one of them will kill every other fish in a 10 gallon tank. Probably the Pleco too.

The pleco would be fine for a couple of years in the 55 gallon if he is still small.

the convict and blood parrot well, you should trade them at your lfs for your blue rams or something else...

My pair of Blue Rams do great in the 75 gallon in my signature - they are tough enough to hold their own, but not overly aggressive or territorial.

ok, sounds great...i will definately be picking up a pair this weekend...BTW, thanks for the concern with my ten gallon mentioned in my sig, but I've had that combo for well over a year and everyone has been doing fine.
