i bought a blue mystery snail maybe about a week a week and a half ago. i bought him rather large and grown already.

when i first introduced him into my tank he was doing just fine he was all over the place, ive never seen a snail move as fast as he was. however recently he never really moves except for when i dont see him.

he will be in one spot and stay there for as long as im watching (he stays in his shell mind you) then if i dont watch him for a couple of hours or even sometimes a couple of minutes hes on the complete opposite side of the tank doing the same thing, sitting there in his shell motionless.

i swear i think he just teleports across the tank because i have not seen him move the past few days he is always just in a different spot.

he also will be on the glass towards the top right below the water level and stay there for a while (or until he decides to teleport somewhere else)

anyway im not sure if i should be concerned with this behavior and if i should would somebody please tell me why.

any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!:D

Mine go like that sometime, so long as he moves occasionally, no worries!

alright thanks i just wanted to make sure

but i do have another question.

onviously snails and fish are completely different but i was just wondering, you know how fish generally you buy in a pair so theyre not lonely..do snails get lonely if theyre the only snail in the tank, do they need another snail pal?

Honestly? It's up to you. I have my two together, because I had been planning on seperating them, but then I ended up feeling bad about it, so, they got to stay together. I've also had ones on their own and they do fine as well. I just like having two - and i have a male/female, so, they give me babies to trade to the pet store for fish food

oh thats a good idea except i have absolutely no idea how to sex a snail lol

and im switching from gravel to sand shortly in about a week and i was wondering how to snails do on sand does it even make a difference to them?

Haha, i just switched them to my sand tank, and they seem to be doing just fine! And i didn't know how to sex them either! You've got like a 1 in 4 chance of getting a male and a female though, so not too bad odds if ya think about it!

yea except with my luck ill have to buy like 12 snails before i finally get a male and female pair

and i assume they stay on the decorations and the glass a lot more due to the sand though?

Actually, I see mine spending a lot more time on the floor now. With the gravel they were constantly up on the grass but now they're perfectly happy on the bottom of the tank

that actually suprises me but i guess ill see what my snail does in a few days from now hopefully

thanks for your comments! :good:
