Blue Emperor Tetra (Inpaichthys kerri) with Discus

I am in the process of designing a Discus tank, with a pair of Apistgramma Viejita.

I would like to have a school of 6 tetras in the tank as well.

Would the Blue Emperor Tetra (Inpaichthys kerri) be suitable for the tank?

I have looked up the tetras on google and have found that they are aggressive between themselves, especially between males. They like to hold small territories as well.

Would this be a problem with discus??

or shud i stick with simple tetras such as the rummy nose or cardinal?

Are they likely to be quite active and "flighty" amongst themseleves? This would freak the discus out. Also, I THOUGHT they needed relatively cooler temparatures - pls correct me if am wrong!

You can keep Discus with more fish than ud think, Black/Red Phantoms, Rummy Nosed Tetras, Cardinals, Clown Loaches, YoYo Loaches, all types of corys, even the odd catfish aswell. Theres prolly a few more but all the above would be fine.

I havent personally managed to find an LFS locally to me who stock Blue Emporers, however i have 3 Emporer tetras in one of my community tanks. I dont find them aggressive fish, though they are more lively than say black phantoms or cardinals (and also slightly bulkier (in girth) than your common tetras). I believe Blue Emporers are slightly smaller, but not having seen them im only quoting on what ive read about them.

Sorry, i just want to add to Scrappys post that Red and Black Phantom tetras, prefer cooler temps than most tropical fish, making them even less happy in a hot Discus tank (84*F).

Thats a fine pickup there Fish_Mike, i hadnt even thought about temps....

Makes u wonder about fish shops, i commonly see mbuna cichlids & discus in tanks right next door to the likes of white clouds & the common tetras... none of the tanks have individual heaters in them (and they dont tend to display temp guages anywhere either so i assume the heating goes on in the sumps they have which would lead me to believe that all the tanks are held at the same temp... I dont know a great deal about shop setups, can anyone expend on this???
