My husband has purchased a "blue shark" and wants some proper info about it. The LFS were a bit sketchy and said it will grow to around 6 inches but he wants to know more about feeding etc.

Any help please :(

Does it look like this?

If so from what I have just read via google, It'll get to 10" + and it is "A fast swimming predator/scavenger South American catfish known for burrowing into the corpses of larger fish and animals"

PlanetCatfish...

Cetopis species dont just burrow into corpses, they burrow into live fish as well!! These are some of the most predatory of all catfishes and should never be placed into a community setting, fish that cannot be eaten whole will be bitten and/or burrowed into. Truely unpleasant fish that definately need a speies tank.

I looked at the catfish website and yes he does look like the picture he also looks like the pseudocetopsis aswell. Presently he is about 3 inches in length and all he does is vertically go up and down the glass at the front of the tank. Occasionally he swims like a normal fish but he does not bother with any other tank mates. Presently in a tank of 125 gal. Roomates include 2 large silver dollar, 2 small bala shark. 1 med black shark, 2 med/large angelfish (due to be rehomed). 2 med plecs. 7 peppered cory, 6 large sailfin mollies, 14 neon tetra (due to be rehomed), 6 leopard danios(due to be rehomed), 4 black widow tetras, 6 mixed tetra and an albino algae eater. Some of the fish are in transit to their new tanks once they have cycled but this tank will be mainly big fish. ie nothing smaller than the cory's or the mollies. Although they may have to move tanks eventually.

Yes, these fish are murderous... whatever they can't eat, they continually bully, nip, and otherwise harass. They get to about 8", need a fast current, as well as very well oxygenated water... also, I wouldn't keep anything with them aside from other Cetopsis cats. My advice is to get rid of it very quickly. :(
