On one of my angels, it looks like a bloodvessel is coming out of it's stomach, it's quite big. Only new additions have been a sucking loach, which is about 2.5". Any ideas on what it is or how to save it? I can't euthanise as i'm to soft, I just really can't.

Need you to clarify. Is the red thing coming from the vent or from a hole in the fishes abdomen? Any chance of a pic?

Does it look like red worms same as black angel has said, or does in look like the intestines are rupturing out of the tummy.

It kind of looks like his stomach, it's coming from his abdomen, and the other fish are trying to eat it. Looks like it's been on both sides but something has popped one of the sides.

To be honest it's not sounding good, he won't make it, this is going to sound awful but I think I would put him out of his misery if the think the fish is in pain and suffering.

The only things I can think of are damage caused by another fish or being stuck somewhere or overburdened by a parasite.
If a fish has a parasite that it shouldnt have then it will get too big and burst out.

It's only ever had 1 ventral fin since I bought it. It looks like the stomach, not worms. The other angels have popped it now, he's still alive but not in the best of states. It sounds awful but I really cannot put him out of his misery, it would make me feel really bad and i'd feel so guilty. I'd always say "What if he made it, he might of been ok", sorry if I seem like an arrogant pig, but I can't.

Ok neal we understand, i would issolate him even if it's just in a container like an ice cream box at the top of the tank.

I'll try to find something a bit suitable for him, it will probably be a small lunch box of some sort, he has no rapid breathing, but he isn't really swimming, but he can if he trys, it's like he's just resting but not on the bottom.

Neal

I'm not allowed to use one of the boxes suitable for him, hang on i'll drink the water in this 2L bottle and that will be alright for him if I cut the lid off.

Neal

It more to keep him in peace and quite, and also that the other fish don't peck at him, bless him, fingers crossed and i wish you all the luck.

He seems alright, but it got popped, and now it looks to be coming back. He can swim, but no too far. He's in the bottle now and free from the pecking disorder! Hopefully he will live to lead a better life when he gets rehomed when he get's a bit bigger.

Neal

Hope he does, good luck neal.

I think he may be ok, he doesn't seem to bad, but I don't know what the thing is do I? He isn't laboured breathing, nor swimming around franticly. I've just put him in the 2L bottle with the top cut off, and weight down a small amazon sword, put in a few frozen bloodworms and let him sleep.

Neal

Bless him, all you can do is hope that he makes it don't quite know what to say as i can't see him and i don't know what going off, neal keep us updated.

Will do, can't really describe it, but it's like intestines/stomach. My guesses are his stomach popped from overfeeding (highly doubt it), he was attacked by another fish, or he got sucked on by the sucking loach.
