Bloating

Well, i fasted him for 4 days, then on the 5th day, I fed him some pea, he pooped out some yellow stuff and was swimming around normally, day 6, I fed him 2 soaked pellets, 8 hours later, hes floating right back to the surface... now this is just aggravating... :shout:

You need to repeat the process, but I would say feed him pea, then fast for 2 days, more pea on the 3rd day, then fast for two more days and give a pea on the 3rd day. This should clear him out of anything. Don't worry about him starving either, fish don't need as much food as mammals as they don't use it to produce body heat. If this doesn't work he has a deformity of his swim bladder and I don't think there is anything that can be done for that. So try the extended fasting/pea cycle and hope it works, I know I'll have my fingers crossed for him and you. Good Luck.

thank you, except instead of 2 days, ill do 4 fasting day then on the fifth will be pea. I'll give em 3 months to see what happens

unfortunately, in case things are at its worst... any ideas on euthanasia(all my books say to do it)?

i hope everything works out for you! :) i fasted my boy for over 4 days and then fed him a small portion of the pea... he ate it pretty quickly i'll tell ya that

Well the best way form of euthanasia is to cut the fish's head off in one quick chop. I know it seems brutal but it really is the quickest way. Another way I've heard is to use Clove Oil. I'm not sure how effective it is, but I'm sure someone will be able to tell you. Whatever you do though, don't freeze them. This is extremly painful for the fish, even though they can't show it. And don't just flush him as he can live for hours or even days in the sewer/septic tank slowly dying from harsh chemical poisoning. So if you can stomach it, decapitation really is the best way to go if it comes down to it. I hope it doesn't though. I'll have my fingers crossed for you both. Good luck.:good:

I heard the clove oil is good because it puts him to sleep first.

You place him in a 1 gallon tank and put 1-2 drops of the oil. he goes to sleep. put more drops in and it kills him in his sleep. tragedy...

well, I put some live plants in. Called honeywarts.

I heard something about worms and parasites, could this be the problem?

there some white stuff hanging from his anus, and when i was checking the profress of the plant roots, i siphoned up some white stuff.

well.... Ihe still isnt better... I gave him an epsom salt bath...fed him peas...still...no good... I guess euthanasia is the best option.... I'll just give him to the petstore and let them... take care of it...

I woke up this morning and noticed him swim around the tank when i called his name and put my face to the tank. He still havin trouble staying to the bottom (still floating to the top) and he starting to swim straight more. Maybe... just a lil mo longer... a lil more peas and epsom salt bath...
