ok so i had 4 honey gouramis but unfortunitly one died last night :-(

the one that died had a very, very swollen belly, so i think (im a newbie to fish keeping so i could be totally wrong) it could be swim bladder?

anyway, i studied my other three gouramis and two of them look very bloated and swollen and there waste is not normal (its very stringy and tiny and white-ish colour... not normal im assuming?) Also they dont look to good. i mean there swimming around and eating, but sometimes they just lay on the bottom of the tank or float near the top of the tank.....

could they be getting swim bladder or something? i dont want them to die....

i have some swimmbladder treatment (no 13) but im not sure if my fish do actually have swim bladder so i dont want to add to the tank if im not sure thats what they have.... also can i can swim bladder tratment to my tank without harming all the other fish or would i NEED to serparate the ones who i think do have swim bladder and then just treat them??

please help..... i will put this in the emergency bit too... i dont want anymore fish to die..

Im not gourami expert but it could be dropsy, if it is its not treatable but as far as I know its not contageous to the other fish, so might not be this.

What you feeding them? bloated fish can often be due to flake food as its dry and can swell in the fishes stomach. This can then lead to other problems. It could also be an internal bacteria infection.

BTW you can treat the tank as it is now, the other fish shouldn't mind in the slightiest. A hospital tank just stops the problem spreading, but I tend just to treat the whole tank anyway as chances are if its going to spread it already has so might as well dose all the fish in one go.

i feed a mixture of flakes, freeze dried blood worm, frozen bloodworm on occassions and freeze dried daphinea... i dont over feed at all (im very consuse about this and the fish only get fed the right amount in which they can consume)

i have added a dose of swim bladder treatment just a minute ago when i went home for my lunch break... All fish look ok but the gouramis still look bloated and swollen....

anyone else got any advice?
