i have been away for a week and came back to find my sev looks kinda bloated sev
firemouth

my wife only fed them wed and fri so it hasnt been over fed.

just wondering if antone had any ideas?

thanks

chris

also i just looked and my firemouth looks a bit bloated aswel

If any scales are sticking up it could be dropsy, check your water conditions, its either a parasite or a bacterial infection. I use sterazine for internal worms etc, if its bacterial you could use melafix or esha2000. Post in the emergancy section too for a second opinion as soon as you have a picture as I am just guessing for now. Hope they are ok

But did she really only feed them on wed and fri ?

I'd start off holding off on all food, just for the moment, checking all water params (WC if necessary). If no water test kit, then do a 50% WC today and tomorrow anyway.

Good advice from star4 to post in the emergency section too.

Personally, I'd hold off on treating just for the moment (if those pictures you linked to are current ones of the fish).

THats a really lovely coloured sev BTW. Don't usually go for gold sevs but yours is a beauty !!

Check your water stats, always the 1st place to start, do a good water change/gravel vac and Id suggest feeding some cooked shelled peas in case they are constipated.

all the water stats were fine and when i checked this morning they seem to have 'deflated'! thanks for the replies i was worried for a bit then, but still wonder what it was?

Now I have seen the pics I agree with Minxy, looked more constipated sort of bloating than infection of some sort, Love you severum btw.
