Hi All

I have a female Guppy that is very bloated, At first i thought she was pregnant but she just seems to be getting more and more bloated and doesnt seem to swim as free as she should and stays near the top.
I do regular water changes and have a few other guppies in there and they seem fine.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks In advance

Toddy

Need water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what do you feed the fish, what does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet, can she maintain her balance in the water, are scales sticking out like a pinecomb.
Does the anus look enlarged or red and inflamed, and is there anything prutruding from the anus.

Hi Thanks for the quick reply, her scales do stick out like pincombe, shes very red on her anus and its not really enlarged but her whole body is big and the little times i have seen her go to the toliet its red'ish i cant see anything pertruding out.

I feed them pellet food and occasionally some bloodworm.

The Nitrate level 10
PH 7.6
Ammonia 0

Cheers

Sadly there isn't much to do as that the last stage of the desease organ failure, the red bum is also due to dropsy.
Can you issolate the fish, epson salt bath might help to draw the fluids out, but i wouldn't hold out much hope sorry.

This info is off the site.
Dropsy : One of the most disturbing of fish diseases, and is rarely cureable. Dropsy is an internal bacterial infection.

Symptoms: The fish's scales will stand out, making it have a pine comb look. Sometimes eyes can .blow up'.

Treatment : Use Kanamycin or Tetracycline and raise the temperature to about 80 degrees/ 30 deg C. This helps remove the fluid note this is rarly curablee.

I take it that this cannot be passed around the tank and i should just leave her as she is .

thank you for your help

I would issolate her even if its in a container in the tank, as if they peck at the body yes it can pass to another fish.
