Bloated Guppy Death

Hello all,

I had a male Guppy that was breathing very fast and was super fat. Two days later it was dead on the bottom of the tank. I have a 20 gallon planted tank with guppies,tetras, danios, and ottos. Any idea why it was so fat and if that is was caused the death?

Can you post your water parameters? How long has the tank been se up? It might have been constipation. Was h going up for air all of the time? If he was it could be that there wasn't enough oxygen flowing though your tank.

Were his scales sticking out like a pinecone?

If they were sticking out it was a disease called dropsy. I don't think there is a sure fired cure for it. Please post the consult form in with your info. ASAP.

Dropsy IS NOT a disease its a symptom of (usually) an internal bacterial infection that causes organ failure
