As above, but I have also noticed that one of my Cherry barbs is very skinny and I have lost a Honey Gourami (don't know how or when, she was there the other day!)

I have noticed that my Clown loach was more bloated than usual (although it does eat alot when given the chance) and was resting on the bottom as if it's out of breath almost panting, it still rushes around like mad but after a few second just perches on the sand and stays there for 30 seconds or so.

I have also noticed a load of clear stringy stuff with a bit of poo in floating about.

Any of this sound familiar?

Any help would be appreciated.

Stocking;

2 x Clown loach (2-3")
2 x Kissing Gourami
6 x Kribs
6 x Kuhli
1 x Cherry barb
1 x Honey Gourami
1 x Platie

240l Tank.

All parameters are as normal.

I did have a Ich problem which i have been free of for about 2 weeks but still got temp up at 32 degrees C which i will leave that way for another week to be sure.

Any advice welcome...

Ok.
Is the anus on any of the fish enlarged or red and inflamed.
Do any fish swim on there sides.
Any fish have sunken in bellys or bent spines.
Any worms prutruding from the anus.

What do you feed the fish?

Being skinny can be not feeding enough, fish isn't eating, internal parasites, fish tb,
external parasites, bacterial.

What's your location. South of London (Crawley)

Being bloated and white stringy poo can also be constipation.
Improve the fish diet with frozen foods and veg.

I would worm your tank if the cherry barbs are skinny and eating well.
The only problem is finding out which internal parasite they have.
What did the gourami die off.

There two meds in the uk.
Wormer plus and a sera med.

If the barbs haven't eaten sounds like there lost weight due to not eating.
Were the barbs skinny before they stopped eating.

Are the clown loach scales sticking out. Clown do you have scales. The only part they don't have scales is the head area.

Feed some shelled peas.
Add a bacterial med for now. Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
Inmprove the fish diet.

If the barbs haven't eaten sounds like there lost weight due to not eating. now you mention it, i last saw the barb eating mussel the other day but not touching the flake, I have recently changed my flake food to get in a new batch. I will try feeding more frozen stuff
Were the barbs skinny before they stopped eating. Nope, they were fine

Feed some shelled peas. Blanched or frozen?

Inmprove the fish diet. How else do improve thier diet, i'ts not really changed since i started the setup (apart from different flake food)and they have done fine up until recently

BTW, Thanks for your help Wilder!! :thanks:

Some fish can take a while to start eating another brand of flakes.

Buy some frozen foods like daphnia which is good for digesting the fish food.
Brime shrimp, bloodworms, but don't over feed bloodworms as they can bloat fish up.

Also research each fish diet needs as some eat veg.

Feed some shelled peas.
Add a bacterial med.
Then get back to the board.

just boil the pea's as you would if you were going to eat them then sqeeze then between your finger and thumb and the soft bit in the middle should come out give that bit to the fish mine love it best of luck :good:

For bloating epson salt baths. It helps draw the fluids out.
