:( hello. I'm currently new to the forum and I have some concerns with a fish that is very dear to us at work.

Our fish, that we named 'nemo' at work is sick. I'm familiar with the intestinal disease, which caused her to have holes in her head. But shes been sick for some time now. Recently we lost an oscar and two other bottom-feeders due to a problem with an abundance of ammonia in the tank.

Our tank received new filters and a good cleaning by a professional and all seems well with the others. But as far as our friend Nemo,we noticed that there was a white cloudy haze over her eyes. Now,I'm not sure but I was curious to know if she may be blind due to her sickness/the ammonia. Is this possible?? Please help us out, these fish our very dear to us and our business and we hate to see them go.....

thank you!

Cloudy eye is a systom of a desease rather than a desease in it's self, if water quality isn't good yes they can get cloudy eye through that.

Need water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, not the writer of this information below.
Cloudy Eye- Cloudy eye can have many causes. Look for signs of Velvet Disease, Ick, and Fish tuberculosis. However, sometimes this is caused due to bacterial infections. Symptoms: One or both eyes become cloudy, and take a whitish appearance. Fish may show signs of distress, and be off-color and behave abnormally. Treatment: Establishing the likely cause of the problem and treating it as soon as possible is the best way to prevent damage to your fish's nervous system. The incidences of cloudy eye can be maintained by keeping the water quality in a good condition, and adding a small amount of aquarium salt to the water at water changes. There are many good medications available at your local pet stores that deal with this problem. Follow the recommended accordingly.

So shes not blind??? The water quality is already improving and she seems to be doing a bit better,we were just curious as to whether or not she was permanently blind due to her sickness. thank you for the quick reply!!!

If it has been caused by poor water quality she should improve. I have a similar problem with a young plec in a tank that has undergone some heavy med treatment recently and it's upset the mature filters a little.
Assuming there is nothing else wrong with the fish just get that water quality back on top form and once there you can try a bit of melafix to help too.
Hugs,
P.
