Hey, I've been keeping fish for a while now, have had a blind cave tetra for over a year, he has always been peaceful and been moved around my community tanks and mostly got on with the other fish. He was in a 100litre tank with just a male betta, about 4 female guppies and a spiny eel. Last night however, he completely changed, mauled a male betta to the point where he has nearly no tail left, and had nipped a lot of the others (female guppies). Does anybody know why this has happened? The only thing that has recently changed is I did a half water change and removed a plant. I dont know where I can keep him now.. eep!

Hi. Blind cave fish can become very aggressive when they get older so it's probably just that. I've had one two years now and he's still very peaceful. I keep having to move him around my tanks though as he occasionally gets picked on. If you've no tank to put him where he'll live peacefully with the other fish you'll have to take him to the lfs. Haven't seen any around here for ages so they're pretty hard to find these days.
