Bleeching Bogwood

Hello,
i just bought 2 new pieces of bogwood and have had them in boiling hot water since 12am. i was just wondering how long do i have to leave it min. i know its supossed to be 1day min or thats what i have heard. i was wondering if that is bare min or if it could be any shorter.

You will get different opinions on this one.

At first, we boiled, reboiled, reboiled and the reboiled again the bog wood we bought. The last couple of piece were a little big to boil (they were for a 6ft tank) so rinsed the shop dirt and dust of them and dumped them in the tank. Had tan coloured water for a few months but the fish seemed to prefer it to be honest.

A good way to soak the bogwood is to stick in the cistern of you toilet (providing you have had no chemicals and toilet cleaners in there) and this will flush nice clean water over every time you flush. Just might me you have funny coloured water in your actually toilet.

I believe this idea came from someone on the forum in the salty section when giving advice about home made live rock. We have used this method and it works hunky dory.

In short I don't believe there is a minimum time for soaking the bogwood, it is going to be down to personal preference
 
provided te piece of wood is small enough to fit in it :lol:
