Hello, I heard of whitespots, but blackspots?


Anyone familiar with this, my Columbian tetra has spots developing and it is acting really weird.

Can any help! please!

black spot disease is extreamly rare in tropical fish. true black spot is a saltwater parasite that has a similar lifecycle to ich.

seeing as you have the black spots on a columbian tetra it is one of two things.

1 ) ammonia/nitirte burns. check core parameters and deal with as appropriate.

2 ) bacterial infection. I often saw this kind of 'black spot' on stock that came in from overseas. I treated with an antibiotic (usually melafix) and they cleared up.
