Hi

My blackmore has been acting very strange for the last 3x weeks. He now and then starts to swim funny - sort of out of balance. He also, as my title states lies on his back at the surface of the water. He was doing this last weekend and I thought his days were numbered!

I have another blackmore who is fine. I have an established tank (75 liters) and all my readings are ok.

So if anyone knows what's going on with him, please let me know!!

Thanks

Ishyfishy

Have you tested the water? If so, what were your water readings? It sounds like a swim bladder disorder.

I agree.

If it is swim bladder try feeding him a bite-size piece of a shelled, cooked pea. It's meant to aid digestion to move the pressure build up on the swim bladder.

I was given this information when my betta had swim bladder. He was so bad that he wouldn't eat though. Luckily he'd come from my LFS like this (as a novice I actually thought they sat at the bottom of the tank 24/7! School girl error!! Lol!) so I took him back a couple of days ago and they replaced him for me :D

P.S. I'd check with some of the other members before feeding him a bit of pea. At the end of the day, i'm still a bit of a novice so don't wanna be responsible for killing fish! lol!

Giving him a pea would be fine and could actually improve his situation if his buoyancy issues are constipation related.

Thanks for seconding that!

I could just imagine poor Ishyfishy finishing the moor off by giving it a pea and then it being my stupid fault! lol!

Thanks. nosoup4you :D
