Hello there
I am fairly new to aquatics and my tank is finaly set up.
Ive just started stocking it up. So far i have 4 mollys and
4 Black widow tetras. I was also gonna get some neon
tetras, but i was told at the pet shop that the black widows
would attack them? Is this true? I thought all tetras would
live in harmony??

How big is the tank?
The minimum school size is 6 for any schooling fish preferably more. Get maybe 8 of each and you should be good to go depending on tank size. :)

Its 80 Litres. The guy at the pet shop said they wouldnt get on?? Thats why i got some mollys instead.

black widows are advid finippers so take that into account dont get long finned and or slow fishes

they will get a long as long as they being kept in proper shoals, all tetras can become fin nippers if they being kept in groups less than 6. bigger groups of tetras means less aggression towards other tank mates .

4 Mollies, 8 Black Widow tetras, and 8 neon tetras would be a fairly full stocking, but I bet you can get away with it if you keep up with a good water change schedule.  Or if you're worried that is overstocking, go 4/6/6 respectively.

And yeah, +1 for the black widows for maybe nipping the mollies.  If they are fine now, I don't think it will be much of a problem.  A bigger shoal always helps because they can just nip at each other.

hope no one minds my asking a question in this thread , iv got 6 neons and 2 glow tetras . i think that's what there called , with the shoal together ?

cheers d
