Is anyone familiar with the black telescope fish.. I heard that they are related to the goldfish family. If thats true do they produce as much waste as a normal goldfish would... and one it be good in a 10 gallon by itself?

Sounds like a moor to me, or black moor as some call them:

They are a kind of fancy goldfish and they can get very big. I think up to 10"!! I don't think a 10 gallon would be enough for one in the long term.

thanks I heard they do get big but people have told me they don't live that long because of them being in the goldfish family.

Wow. Goldfish are noted for having very long life spans in captivity with proper care, on the order of twenty years. Black moors are fancy and the inbreeding tends to weaken them somewhat but you should be able to get 10 years or more out of a healthy specimen. The reason goldfish tend to not live long is because people try to keep them in containers only suitable for bettas. :byebye:
