I planted some new plants in my tank a few days ago and I'm getting dime to quarter width size round black spots with a little yellow at the edges on some.

It's a tank that has been fishless cycling for 7 weeks and I will be adding fish tomorrow or Saturday and I wanted to get the plants in beforehand.

Is this due to high Nitrates? Will it kill the plant or go away once I do the final water change?

Nitartes is a source of Nitrogen to plants,
It sounds like a potassium defficiency, are you dosing any fertilisers?

It could also be the plants adapting from emmersed to submersed form. Just trim off any dead leaves ad it will promote new growth.
How long have you had them?
Or, the plants may not be aquatic.

There is lots of options, can you post some pictures?
