well last night i was going to post that a week ao i got a black peacock lionfish and that he wasnt eating. he is small (body length about 5") the pet shop i got himg from (a good one) said that he was eating frozen krill no problem. he would chase the food but then swim away. well last night i noticed i was missing my yellow bell damsel. i didnt think anything of it since he would always hang out near the annemone i figured he got snatched. i had the amazing blue damsel with lots of personality and awsome color. each morning id sit by the tank for a min and he would come chat lol. well this morning i see him swimming around the rocks then bam, the lionfish comes around the corner and grabbed him. this was a big damsel and he got swallowed up. so im pissed but i knew it might happen sooner or later. what are some good tank mates?

well depending on the size of your tank, i'd say other predatory fish like triggers and eels. anything else would be snatched up by the lionfish like your damsels, even if they are big. but to house predatory fish you would need a 100+ gal tank and i doubt you have that since you only had a damsel prior to getting a lionfish.

again these would require big tanks, but tangs seem to be alright with lionfish. i've seen them in together at my lfs and the lionfish seem to keep to themselves. but don't quote me on that!

i have a 125 gallon tank. i got the damsels because i like them. i wont do triggers because i have some corals.

ahh..you've proved me wrong lol. i feel like such a fool

its ok your a vancouver fan lol lets go rangers!!

rangers are terrible!! go canucks!!

ok back on topic, not all triggers eat corals  . my blue throat trigger avoids them like any other of my fish B-) . with a 125 gallon, assuming u would want to keep your lionfish, i would go with tangs, SOME species of angels, trigger, maybe a cool morray, etc.. but this ur tank so you should have fun with it :D

Whoa, hang on a minute folks - Triggers and Lionfish don't make good tank mates on the whole. Triggers have been known to attack the Lions between the spines and kill them
