Have a group of Black Neon Tetra's in a tank, one I noticed sitting at the bottom this morning not moving very much. It appears to have a slight sore on the right hand side ner the middle/ front of the body at the bottom. If you look closely you can just about see there is a slight flaking showing under the body.

The area is slightly pink.

I have taken the fish from the tank, how should I go about treating this fish and also what should I do to protect the other fish in that tank?

Appreciate any advice that can be given, these are the best images I can manage.

NOTE: This fish has not been in the tank with Nitrite problems listed in a seperate thread. Tank Stats for this tank have been (0, ammonia, 0 Nitrites, 40 Nitrates) for the past week.

Is this the tank you had water quality problems.
Does the sore having any white edging to it.

Totally seperate tank, just a bad week!! :( Thought to add to the second thread I'll add a comment tothe first post in this one. Also that is whyI id twoseperate posts as they are not associated

The edges of the sore are white and "fluffy" the centre is more a brown pink colour. The width of the diameter of the center is light wier than the width of the edge piece. The sore is about 2/3 the size of the head.

Ok.
I would add a bacterial med to his tank. Myxazin by waterlife or anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

I have interpet no 9 Anti Bac, there are somefry in the tank also endlers and Bristle nose, this should not cause a problem?

No carbon in the filter

ne final issue is that I don't have a hosp tank at the moment as the tank designated for that purpose got re-assigned after I returned from the BLA live bearers Show and Auction in Corby!!

Could setup a hospital in a 30L Plasic tub for the one fish and dose that also? don't have a spare cycled filter and I guess if you dose meds you do not want to do water changes before the treatent is over would one small fish such a this be able to survive without a filter, or with an uncycled one for 7 days? Have spare heater.

You will need a airstone for aeration.
If you have to preform a water change you just add the correct amount of med back to water removed.

I don't have an airstone do have an air pump would that suffice? if suckere onto the side?

Thanks for all your help

You could just add the tubing into the water for aeration. Do you have a valve that stops the water running back down the tube.

I found the solution, I had an old submerged bubble "pump" which was broken but had an air inlet tube, connectted that to the pump and have bubbles, if a little fierce but it is certainly moving the water around a bit but with enough of the tank calmer if the fish wants to get away from it.

Seems a little bit better than he was in the tank this morning anyway.

Anyway I hopefully I caught it early enough and that it does not pass on to the other fish.

Unfortunatley lost the fish this evening, had appeared to be doing better, but when I came home it seemed to be going with the current in the tank only swimming occasionally. an hour or so later was gone.

Just hope that what ever it was does not get to the others in the tank
