Hi, bought a pair of black mollies today and my lfs said he gave me one male and one female (as requested). One of them has a more elongated anal fin and a much longer tail fin (more longer on the end) The other has a squarer anal fin and a much shorter tail fin.

First question - Which is male and which is female?

2.) Do they have a mating ritual? If so, what is it?

3.) How long before conception to birth?

4.) Are they algae eaters, cos I saw them devouring both algae wafers and blood worms.

Female has the squarish tail fin. Main has the elongated gonopodium.

Mating ritual not really just intertwine occasionally in which the female is fertilised, this need happen only once every 3 months but happens more frequently.

Usually takes about 3-4 weeks.

Livebearers eat almost anything and love plant matter, they won't eat your live plants but they love nibbling algae and perhaps try some cucumber for them to eat too :D
