i bought 3 black mollies 1 male 2 female the cycle my brackish tank then the idea was there babies would make live food for the other fish im going to add

i look in the tank today and hiding behind the spray bar was a baby mollie! the mollies i have are barley and inch long i had no idea they were sexually mature at such a young age!!!

ive only found 1 so far and separated it from the other mollies for now but just thought id share :D

Well done! That's how it works... keep mollies happy = baby mollies. Raising them isn't *quite* as easy as everyone thinks until they've actually tried. Mollies tend to be a little cannibalistic, so isolating the baby for a couple of weeks makes a lot of sense. There are some good pinned topics in the Livebearers forum, so be sure and read those. Baby mollies need a lot of food... ideally 4-6 meals a day. Anything less and they don't grow so fast.

Cheers, Neale

ive only found one so far so ive either got there very early or very late i think i might take the filter apart later c if any have found there way down the pipe

i have never set up a tank so fast as i did that 1 either!

now ill go look up those topics on breeding :good:

i have to say congrats :band:

my balloon molly is pregnant and cant wait 4 it give birth

Congratulations!
It's always rewarding to see your fish breed.

Good to hear :).
Also good to see you're keeping mollies in brackish :).
Yeah mollie fry are hard to raise - I started off with 30 and it went down to 10 that I still have now.
Keeping them in a breeding net isn't a good idea - I found more died in one of those than when I had them in my 15g on their own (puffer hadn't been bought yet).
Best of luck :).
Rob
