I started a 10-gallon aquarium one or two months ago At this point, I have 2 red-eyed tetras, 2 zebra danios, 2 guppies, an algae eater, and 2 black mollies.
I've been having poor luck with the black mollies. I'm not sure what the sickness is, but I've already lost 2 of them to it, and one of the two that remain is beginning to show symptoms. It begins as a slight curvature in the back, the tail stops moving freely and sort of bends downward. The fish swims awkwardly for 1 or 2 days and then dies. It doesn't seem to be an infectious disease, as it doesn't show signs of spreading. It's really odd because just 2 days ago, the fish was at optimum health. What's wrong?

I have a feeling i know what it is but i shall need some more info first to make sure;
a. what are your recent ammonia, nitrate and nitrite stats please?
b. Are the fish showing signs of lethargy/lack of energy, shrunken stomachs, occasionaly skin infections, clamped fins, loss of appetite or arond the tank alot doing nothing etc?

I noticed this with my guppies, so i isolated them and added some aquarium tonic salt and they are now fine. I'm not saying this is whats wrong with yours but it helped my fish..

i know which way you were going tokis, but tb is very rare. and mine was just a suggestion as to something quite simple like a salt defficiency, as mollies need minerals from the salt in the water.

My ammonia is a little bit high, but my nitrite and nitrate are ok. Yes, I've noticed some lethargy in my mollies and my guppies (one of which i have lost to the disease) their spine seems to lose structure and the fish aren't able to swim properly. The stomachs do go in, and bits of their tails and fins start disappearing (I figure its from other fish nipping at them, seeing that they are defenseless). They eat sometimes, but usually spit it out.
