Black Knife

how do u think about black knives??? They look soooooooooooo cool and have a unique way of swimming.

I LOVE BGK's, I used to have 2 of them but one died. My other one is about 6-7"

jus got one on friday for my 180G tank and it is pretty damn amazing!


had to have a re shuffle of some rocks so that i can see behind them all otherwise i wouldnt of seen him yet but im hoping hell come around and get braver!

when i used to have 2 they were my favourite fish! they got to about 6inches well under their max size but i gave them away after my angels didn't like them this was years back now but i've now learnt they needed a bigger tank then i could offer them anyway.

So, I could keep one in a discus tank (around 80 gallons), and would it go with cardinals, or will they get eaten?

yeah they are from the amazon.i would say the cardinals are going to be eaten. never kept them with discus though so don't know about that.

I don't think the BGK's would apreciate the raised temp of a discus tank.

I used to keep mine with discus but then i moved it over to my larger tank. I think that they are really gr8!!! They would be fine with cardinals when they are very small, but when the BGK gets big enough they will go.

80 gallons is too small IMO. I saw one on a Amazon television special a few weeks ago that was nearing 3 feet in length. They need at least I would say a 100 gallon tank.

There is a VERY big deifference in keeping fish and fish in the wild. In comparison wild fish can grow quite a lot bigger than captive fish.

Exactly. In a properly sized home, an aquarium kept fish can grow quite large. Often that's not the case.

well it says 80 gallons in the fish index but in the same paragraph it says a tank size atleast 24" wide.


havent worked it out but any tank 24" wide is gonna be more than 80G surely?
