Just curious if anyone has kept this fish and have any comments on it.

I had a group of about 6 of them back in the 90s. They were kept in a 4ft tank with some Goodeids. I increased the GH to around 200ppm and the pH was above 7.0. They ate small live and frozen foods but didn't touch dry food. I can't remember what happened to them, presumably they died.

The big issue with them is they hang out just under the surface and you have to look into the tank and then up to see them.

I'm still keeping them. I had my topic about some of mine. See link: https://www.fishforums.net/threads/celebes-halfbeaks.496437/

Nowadays, they're swimming with my Zoogoneticus tequila and Xenotoca lyonsi. Which makes a perfect combination. Well, mine don't always stay at the top. Mine do like to swim in all layers. Unlike my Dermogenys pusiila (pusillus)...
They also like to stay between those plants...

They're one of my favorite halfbeaks, btw...

Sounds like they need water rich in minerals.
