Hey everyone!

I have 6 Black skirts, 5 neon tetras and 5 glo-light tetras.

Over the past 4 months, I have been examining my black skirt tetras and 3 out of 6 have these black bumps. At first, i thought it was discoloration or just random black pigmentation.

On one of the little guys (the one who has the most noticeable black bump) it started on his lower jaw. It does not seem to be spreading to other parts of his body but it has gorwn in girth and seems to be pertruding out a little more and has intensified in color. (It looks as though he got into a fight and has a black lip)

They are not developing new black bumps, but the existing ones have seemed to intensify.

What is ironic is that all of them act healthy. They all have strong appetites, are alert, interact socially with each other, have healthy coloration and are all swimming fine so it does not seem to be affecting their nervous system.

The biggest of the 6 has no black bumps.

I am wondering, are these indications of normal domestic quarrels between the black skirt skirts. After doing some research, I tried to single out what it could be but I could not get a definitive answer.

After comparing pictures on the internet, these bumps most closely resemble tumorous pigment cells which I've read could be genetic among these fish.
