I have a problem with thick black heavy algae that forms over the gravel and filter
in my 60 ltr juwel aquarium. The tank has been set up and running in the same position
for over five years with no problems. Have tried several treatments but nothing will touch it.
Any suggestions most appreciated

The only two options are a Siamese Algae Eater or a Florida Flagfish. Either one could eat the algae provided you don't feed them anything else.

Get a brown algae solution remover and try that m8.

how would brown algae remover get rid of black brush algae? I assume you mean diatoms when you talk about brown algae, and diatoms and black brush are COMPLETELY different. Plus do your best not to use chemicals.

Black brush algae is normally caused with fluctuating CO2 or something like that. Fixing the cause is much better than fixing the symptom. Is it a planted tank? Are you pumping CO2 into the tank?
