38 Gallon Tank - Cycled last August
20 Fish - 2 to 3 cm long

Increased light to 2.6 w per gallon

DIY co 2 - one ladder - one bubble a second

cannot get rid off black stuff, like tar, on my grass and other low growing plants which i'm trying to grow.

have tried dosing with anti hair algae but not much effect

any ideas please? :(

sounds like blue-green algae which isnt a true form of algae..
but take a look for yourself and compare. algae persists when you have too many nutrients in the water that arnt being used by your other plants, excess nutrients means algae LOVES IT!

thanks for reply. looks like blue/green algae. i am putting a weekly does of 'flourish' plant food in the tank.

i cannot find any resource for buying the plants suggested - (Egeria densa (Elodea) and Ceratophyllum demersum) will do further search on the British suppliers.
