Bitten by the betta bug

Well, I have heard of it happening, but I never thought it would have happened to me. I think I have fallen in love with a fish. Not one specific fish, but the betta! I think I got bit by the betta bug! I just got back from rescueing another betta from wallmart. I looked him all over really good. He looked to be in good shape. Nice finage, active, attentive, flaring at the other males, and he is beautiful. the more fresh water I put in his dish, the better his colors come out too. I can't wait till I get him acclimated and in his new home. If I could figure it out, I would post pictures, but I can't figure it out. I'm sure you have all seen many beautiful betta's though so I guess I don't really need to. Anyway, I will stop boring you with another betta bug story.

i think my bf has the betta bug now too.....he is gettin so dang excited about these crowntail betta's he got of aquabid. he hasn't got them yet, but he won one of the bids, and the otherone is almost done. he's gettin all prepared and everything. it's kinda funny how he went from something like "i wish you'd pay more attention to me, than those dang fish" to staring at them with me. (i tend to stare at my betta's just to see what they're up to) this staring can last up to 20 minutes. lol. but i'm glad he's got the bug now, cuz now he's about as infected as i am!

I know what you mean about the staring. I'll sit in front of the tank with my 1 year old son, and we will both watch him swimming around, and him looking out at us like, what the hell are you guys looking at??!!! They are both beautiful though. It makes me want to get into the other kinds.(crown tail, D, all those......) I just don't have room is the problem. Funny. I don't have room for a fish that takes up virtually no room at all.

lol. it's ok...i ran out of room. i've got 6 in my room. male and female (in a floating breeder thing) in my 10gal, male and female in my 5gal, male in a 1.8 gal, and a male in one of those dual hex betta things. what little room i have left, is taken by other things (radio, prom pic, etc...)

my bf's first betta is going to be a crowntail. i'm so mad though that i couldn't have them

i mean, i AM the one who got him into this...why shouldn't i be allowed to have them?!!

You should have picked one of yours to give to him, then got a crown tail, unless you are just hopelessly hooked to them all.....

oh yes...i love all my betta's. i love sunset because of his beautiful blue body and yellow, blue lined tail. i love silk because his colors are sooo light that they look white. but when you look closer you can see that his body is an incredibly light pink, and his tail is an incredibly light green. i've had dragon and scraggle for 6 months, so i'm definetly atteched to them. there my oldest betta's. i'm sure he don't want the females. besides, he's gonna try and breed the 2 crowntail's that he's gettin.

I am beginning to understand. The more time I spend looking at my 2 bettas, the more I love them. Even after just having these 2(one for 2 days and the other I just got today) I could probalby never get rid of them. I'm already hooked to them.

I'be only got two bettas (one male and one female) but I cherish them above all my other fish.

lol i do this too....just go into all LFS purely to oggle bettas
