bit of a whiff

hmmm i set my aquarium up yesterday ... n getting a bit of a whiffy pong in the living room ... any ideas as to why as i've only got clean water a filter etc in there no fish ... maybe its just the newness of the canopy ???

my tank is roughly 39 gallons (150 litres ) but i checked the temp earlier and it was 36 degrees so im trying to get it down ... whats the ideal temp ... thought that may be why it was a bit whiffy if its too warm ???

[/Bok i went for help i got my temp down to 26 and been stable for 2 hour fingers crossed its gonna stay there n went back to the aquatic shop about the whiff he gave me 2 capsules to add to my water that help promote the bacteria thats missings. its also no longer resembling a thick fluffy white cloud in a tank looks a bit misty instead lol

my tank got cloudy when i first set it up. it was gone in a couple days. for the smell, there is a possability that it could be your new canopy.

ok i took the canopy off lastnight and its the water that definatly pongs ... i just have a filter on ther at the mo ... would a pump help ... oh its crystal clear noe btw and my temp has been a constant 26 cegrees for 18 hours .... yipeeeeeeeeeeeee
