I have a 5gal tank with three baby bn plecs about 2cm in length. I was wondering if I could still use the tank as a birthing tank (dunno if the molly could eat them or not) she wouldn't just kill em just to kill em would she? I am positive they can't fit in her mouth I also have cover in the tank as well a plant and a nice structure. I would need an answer fairly soon as my molly female is about to explode with babies and I don't want to lose any!

She shouldn't eat them. She may be aggressive to them though, it's hard to say. I think as long as they keep out of her way, and it's planted and had hiding places, it should be okay for a bit. I'd take her out as soon as you can, though. :)

ok cool thanks. It is a pot belly molly so I don't know when exactly it is fat enough to put in the birthing tank....

How long has she been pregnant? Any ideas?

And Balloons tend to be a lot nicer, so I wouldn't worry as much about her. They should be fine. :)

She is in a bigger tank with others that I am worry about... I don't wanna transfer her too earlier but of course I dont wanna transfer too late..

I'd say she could be in the 5 gal okay for a few weeks, if she had too. How long has she been looking fat? And does her gravid spot look pretty big? :)

I didnt know mollys had gravid spot. I do not see one but a couple weeks ago I got a male molly and recently she has been getting fatter.

Well, some colors don't have gravid spots, or they have really hard to see gravid spots. I'm guessing that's the case with your's. So, if she started getting fat a couple of weeks ago, I'd guess she's about 3 weeks in. You could probably get away with putting her in now, as it would be better not to move her right before she gives birth. How big is she, in inches, though?

she is an inch long and over an inch from top fin to belly.

And what are the dimensions on the tank? I'm thinking, since she's small, you could get away with putting her in there in a couple days. Maybe wait until Monday or Tuesday, then put her in, unless she looks REALLY ready to pop. Just try to keep it stress free in there...so plants, and decorations, and not too bright light will be great. :D

5 gal is about 16"x8"x10",I rounded off to the next number... I dont know which tank u wanted but my 55gal is: ABOUT 4'x1'x1.5'
