i have bought 4 female guppies, the first had two.....i dont know what you call them for fish litters? and then after she was about ready for the third she died before it happened, so the second one, i bought along with the first one and she never gave birth the whole time, even thow she had a huge belly when i bought her, then after about 3 months, the first one died like i said and then the second one had a few babies right before i got home from work so i put her in the divider thing for the tank and the next morning she was dead...... i was like :hyper: what was that all about? a fluke thing i thought,......THEN......i bought two more females last week, and the same thing happened to this new one....(.new fish go into different tanks each seporated from one another, so thats why i only buy two at a time) she was pretty huge, i bought one of those breeder tank things and she had 5 all to gether, three have died so far, but mom was dead the next morning? (she was in a different tank from the origional two)........the first ones i rescued from walmart and the second two i rescued from petsmart........should i just not bother with females? i have 2 males i've had through out this whole ordeal.....i have the origional 2 litters of all females in a small one gallon tank.......i'm affraid to put them in with the males, due to the give birth die syndrome that is plagueing me lately.......

can anyone think whats going on? or if i'm doing something wrong?

thnx

What did you feed the females on an average basis and what are your water stats(ammonia/nitrate/nitrite)? When you bought the females were they already pregnant?

Please post water stats as the above reply has asked, what size tank, how many fish and which kind, the swollen belly could they maintain there balance in the water, and were scales sticking out like a pinecone, and what do you feed the fish.

It could be the stress of being prego, moved, and put in water that has different peramatures all at the same time that is causing them to die.
