Well I was cleaning my tank and I found one of my platies hiding and looking very nervous, since one of the platies I got died after just staying in the corner of the tank I figured it might be stress or something. After moving the siphon around I suddenly noticed a tiny little fish swimming around (I didn't even realize she was pregnant!). So now I have the little one in a breeder net and the mother is in a trap, my question is, will the mother go back to giving birth or did I totally screw it up?

You might have already been too late. She probably already gave birth and the fry are either hiding or were eaten. :( You also might have crushed them while siphoning water. Don't worry, she'll give birth in another month or so because livebearers save sperm. If she's not very fat I'd take her out of the trap as it will stress her out.

caring about the safety of your fry and mother doesnt mean you screwed up.
mine had fry 2 days ago i saw a few get eaten and could only see one left, but ive now counted six ive added extra plants for coverage in the area i fisrt found the fry and this is working. i would personally let her back into the tank and let her give birth there........just add even more plants or ornaments that create good hiding places and you will have fry that survive

 I had a similar problem... I was moving the plants around in my tank with a pregnant molly in there. Then I saw a fry and went, "D'oh!" I thought I screwed up too, because she didn't release anymore, but some people told me that she probably released all her fry and they were just eaten by others. Another person also told me that my molly probably released the fry because of stress, and will release later. I'm hoping it's that. Good luck!!
