I have a quite extra large Redtail Dalmatian Platy that is pregnant. You can see the eggs in her or as they call it the gravid spot and I could make out about 3 sets of eyes. So today she had 3 fry!! I was excited except for the fact that she is still really really fat and still as I can see has tons of eggs in her. As of now I can't make out anymore sets of eyes. So my question is:

Is this normal? Will she have a couple and then it will go a day or two or what is the timeline for this to occur???

The first batch of fry tends to be quite small, but if she didn't feel 'safe' she can wait another 24 hours (whenever she feels safe although some fish seem naturally to leave large gaps between releasing fry) before having the rest, a female of mine I believe did this when I unintentionally disturbed her - I didn't realise she was just giving birth. Otherwise it'll be 3-4 weeks before you get your next batch of fry. :)

just before birth they start produceing eggs for the next lot, which is probably what you can see, as said first lots do tend to be small ones, especially if the female herself isn't to big, she could of had more and they got eaten, either by her or other fish
