;) Hi all just wanted some advice on the biorb tanks, I really like the look of them I have 2 clown loaches, 5 neon tetras, 2 guppies, plecostumus, snakey one ?, and 2 three spot gouramis. Are the biorb tanks ok for these fish and the amount I have?
I would need a 60 litre would I? The tank I have now is 55 litre! Cheers. :fun:

Biorb is a waste of time and money. They're expensive, they don't hold much, and the lack of surface area for gas exchange throws stocking levels all to hell.

Get a rectangular tank.

And.. what are your tanks in gallons? Because the clown loaches will get huge.. -_-

No way. That is only 15gallons. A rectangular tank of that size can't have clown loaches or most types of plec. What is the 'snakey one'? And as littlefishy said, clown loaches get v. big, and common plecs get up to over a foot long. And I'd be a bit doubtful about 3spot gouramis, too. I'd only say keep smaller species like honey or dwarf in a 15g.

Whoopsie.... I didn't think they got that huge! If I had a huuuuge tank, maybe one day, I'll have the world largest common plec.
Not likely  .

I have had my plecostumus for over a year and he is doing fine as with the clown loaches they have always been happy in the tank. But thanks for the advice on the biorb tank I will decide against that 1.

The pleco is about 4 inches and the clown loaches half that. They dont seem to be growing any more. I always thought the size the fish grows depends on the size of the tank? :-( And when you look at the tank it looks empty. I am worried now, but as i said they have been ok for a long while and have stayed the same size!
I wont be getting a biorb tank, thank you for all the help very much needed ;)

No. If you put a baby in a box, a kitten in a jar or a horse in a cupboard that wouldn't be true would it? Its no different for fish. Well, they might, but in no way is it healthy or good.

Hi sharky&george,

The above posts were just explaining that fish only growing to the size of their tank is a myth (although of some debate it seems).

Here is one link about plecos, but applies to all fish. There are some other threads debating/talking about this subject on the forums too.

Hey fishaholic

Thank you for that looked up the link and can now see what all are saying about the organs keep growing, I am real worried for its health now what do you suppose I do. I am quite attached to him, but his health comes first, have a local pets at home store bit worried he will have the same fate if I return him though! The shops forget to tell you about this
