Hi Guys and Girls

New to the forum and just wondering if someone can give me some advice.

I have always been interested in fish and have just recently took the plunge and bought myself a 30ltr ropical Biorb. I have set it up as per instructions and added the cleaning solution sachet that came in the box. After talking tothe guys at the shop where I bought they told me I could add fish by the end of the week(Bought it Monday). He seemed to know what he was talking about.
My problem is, that after reading on this forum a lot of people suggest various cycling times(4-6 weeks by some). I am ust wondering i this wold still be the case for a new tank?

Any help appreciated

Ps

My daughter loves the neon and bright colored fish. I am wondering

1, What sort of fish the 30ltr tank can hold and how many
2, What sort of fish I should use to get me started off
3, Do you add differant types of fish in a certain way, ie same type one week and then wait for a week or so before adding more?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are going to do a fish in cycle (many people on here including myself would recommend fishless cycle for the sake of the fish) Iwould chose a more hardier fish such as a zebra danio. (neons are a bit fragile IMO and are better suited to a more mature tank) You can get more info on the fishless cycly here.....

Hope this helps!:)

My problem is, that after reading on this forum a lot of people suggest various cycling times(4-6 weeks by some). I am ust wondering i this wold still be the case for a new tank? It is even more important for a new fish tank as it will have no bactieria in it at all to break down harmful amonia into Nitrite then Nitrate http://www.fishforums.net/content/New-to-t...shless-Cycling/ there is the link for fishless cycling....

1, What sort of fish the 30ltr tank can hold and how many? You could get a Betta and maybe a few pygym corries.
2, What sort of fish I should use to get me started off? Cycle the tank first and dont get fish to start you off, if this is what you mean.
3, Do you add differant types of fish in a certain way, ie same type one week and then wait for a week or so before adding more? Is good to add a few fish every week or so till youve reached your stocking limit.

Hope most of what I said was right
Many Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I have had a look at this and it seems the general rule is to leave it 4-6 weeks. Take it the guy in the shop doesnt have a clue?
