ok, had found the biospira...kept refridgerated and all, added to tank monday morning, the ammonia is down to zero, like right away, but the nitrites have stayed higher...now 1.0 . should I do a water change and loose the biospira bacteria? or will it go down on its own...??? i do not want to kill my fish but I dont want to render the product unless either.

You have fish in...and you're adding bio-spira?

I was under the impression that you use bio-spira when doing a Fishless cycle...

no my stupid tank went into a horriable mini cycle because my father in law turned the electric off to the living room and forgot to turn it back on when he was done...the media in the hang on the back filters went totaly dry.
it was cycled and everything was fine, untill this, I kept doing water changes and doing them and the mini cycle was still stressing my fish....
hence getting the bio spira

I've never used it so I don't know what the directions say but I would think that it what ever bacteria there was in the product would have made it to the filter by now rather than still being in the water. You do need to get the nitrite down though. You may give it till tomorrow morning but after that I would probably do a water change if it hasn't dropped.
