Bio Orb 30L Red Cherry Shrimp & Fish

Hi all,

I've just been giving a orb 30l I wanna make it a shrimp tank mayby red cherry?
Starting with 5 shrimps

What's the best fish to add to help keep the shrimp numbers down if they start breeding? Maybe 4 male guppies?

I will be adding an extra external filter when it arrives and I've upgraded the air pump (tetra tec)


I don't want to rushing into this and I don't want over stock with fish.
I just started to cycle the tank (none fish cycle) with flake food

Yes that's the one. Best not to mix a betta with guppies as it will most likely attack them due
to their colourful flowing fins.

What's the external filter called? Sounds like a good idea to add it in as the undergravel filter that comes with the tank is a little rubbish! A betta and some shrimp sound like a good stock to me, good luck!

Yeah, I wouldn't get guppies if I were you, it's just to much of a risk

Thanks all the external filter it's a efx200 ( just trying to think how to slow the out put down a bit?)

Going to look around the local stream for maybe some bogwood and some large stones to add ( do I need to boil stones & bogwood or just soak it over night?)

Scrub it and soak it in boiling water. Dont boil it as stones can explode if they contain air and wood will break down quicker.

Which would you add first after the tank has cycled?

Shrimp or betta

It is normally betta last for territorial reasons, but the shrimps small bioload may not keep the filter ticking over so maybe betta first.
