Hi iam having trouble finding info on bio ceramic rings. Iam not quite sure if i need to change them every few months or so. Ive read that i dont need to change them at all, is this true? Can u help!

Personally I have never changed mine (tho I have added some more). I have them in both my externals 1 set is 18months old and one set is 6months, when I do filter maintenance I swill them in the tank water to remove the crud and back they go...don't know if this is scientifically the right thing to do but my tanks have decent readings so that's what I go on...

You shouldn't have to replace your biological filter media. As "LakeyGal" said you may have to remove the detris. I have had the bioballs in my marine tank for about 20 months now.

You don't change them. They hold the beneficial bacteria and should never be replaced.
