Where can I buy big rocks like the ones shown below?

they look more like ornaments thank rocks.

Maidenhead sell ornamental rock.

Yup, the front ones look manmade and the ones at the back are a roll-on, photographic backing paper. You can usually get large rocks from an LFS (although they'll charge you through the nose for them).

garden centres and DIY stores sell very cheap rocks for landscaping but make sure it's the right kind not calcium containing rocks which can alter water pH

Looks like lace rock to me. But I'm lookig at the image on a 4" screen. Lol.

For big rocks visit a garden centre. Homebase for example stocks huge green granite boulders that are safe in fish tanks and cost about £3 each. That's very expensive for rocks, but cheaper than at most pet stores, and more convenient that buying them in bulk from an ornamental stone distributor. Some slate quarries allow customers to drive up and collect as much as they want for a certain price, and that can be a good deal too. Note that collecting from the beach may or may not be legal, depending on whether the rocks there are shore defences.

Cheers, Neale
