I really like black ghost knives, and I've been researching them for a while and thinking about getting one. I do have a couple of questions about them though.

My main question is if a 55 US gallon tank is big enough? I've heard that they're slow growers, and that they get lethargic with age. I have three clown loaches in there now, and will soon add a lace gourami. Will all these fish, full-grown, overstock the tank? I don't think I'd be able to accomodate another big tank. I'm beginning to think that'd be way too much fish for a 55 gal.

:/

Thanks for any help!

BGK's do grow VERY slowly, but don't really get more lethargic with age. BGK's also have the potential to grow into a 24" adult, so yes, your tank would be overstocked. On the other hand, you could just seel it or give it away when it outgrows your tank... I always enough room for another BGK! :D

aactually i think your tank will be ovrstocked when your clown loaches are full grown.

exactly how long dose it take to grow mom lets me upgrade a tank size every year so how small dose it have to be when put in a 20 gal so it can make it to next cristhmas for a 30 gal and not eat my 2 inch fish

I think how fast it grows depends a lot on what/how frequently you feed the fish. That makes it difficult to come up with a specitic number for how fast a fish grows.

BTW: Thanks guys for answering my question! I looked at my thread after I posted it, thought for a second, and then realized that there's no way that wacky plan would work. If that's not an excuse to get another tank, I don't know what is. :D
