My black ghost knife fish has white poo, however it's not stringy. Could this still be internal paracites? He's still eating really well and there doesnt appear to be any other side effects, however he seems to be the only one with white poo.

He eats krill pellets, flake food and bloodworm, none of which should make his waste white ?

All of the water stats seem ok,

pH 7.2,

Ammonia 0

Nitrite 0

Nitrates 0 (planted tank)

Thanks

It could be internal parasites, best thing to do is take a sample top a good LFS and get them to check it under a scope and then treat with wormer plus or flubenol 15 if it is internal parasites

White poo can be a number of things does it look like mucas.
Constipation what do you feed the fish.
Internal bacteria infection is the fish bloated or changed colour.
Internal parasites signs are being bloated, thin, sunken in belly, red or enlarged anus, and being lethagic, last stages of the desease can cause deformaties.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure if the fish shops around here would test the fish waste. Never heard of that being done here.
As for food, he eats flake food (although not as much recently), krill pellets and bloodworm. Can he still be constipated if waste is still appearing?
I dont really get a chance to get a good look at the fish to see if he's bloated, although i will try next time he appears. There's no sunken belly or colour change, however his anus does appear white.

Got a good look at him today, his stomach is looking very bloated :(
I've also just found that the krill pellets i had been feeding to the fish have been infested with some bug/lavae. They've been flying all over the room and just this morning i finally found the source. Seems they've been breeding in the pellets. Could this have caused harm to them?

How awful, don't know to be honest don't know which bug it is.
Maybe ask in tropical chit chat about the food.
Don't feed for two days see if the bloated tummy goes down.
If its really bloated and epson salt bath.
One teaspoon to a gal.

Good luck voo.
Yes the peas should flush them through then we know if the parasites have caused any problems.

The peas won't do him any harm.
I would take them pellets back and have a word with the lfs if you have found bugs in them.

Actually i bought the pellets online and i bought 2 bags of them, they've been in the cupboard for a long time now as I've just finished the first bag. They must have got into the bag during the summer somehow and the larvae starting to grow in the last month. They were only a couple of quid but the fish love them so i'll order some more. More worried about the fish.

Thanks for your help.

I would give your cuboard a good clean and clear out.
Buy some more if you think its not the manufacture fault.
Try and keep them in a sealed container this time.
Just have to watch the fish and see how they go.
