Essentially copied and pasted from the journal section, but it's really getting on my wick and I've no idea what to do about it.

Looking at the pinned topics, possible causes given as-

Often caused by very low nitrates- Well. Possibly? I dunno. Bioload is pretty low at the moment, plus with all that moss...

Dirty substrates and filters may also bring it on- it shouldn't be dirty...

Poor water circulation is another possible cause- Perhaps. But I do have a U3 in there, which isn't exactly miniature.

Excess organic loading is the real cause in many cases- Erm... Not AFAIK...

I admit I've been a bit lax with the carbon lately, but since it appeared even before then, I wouldn't put that down as a real factor.

Anyway. Tank stats, 30x12x15, 48W of T5, about a 6h photoperiod. Moss, crypts, a lilly. Three P. cupanus, a Betta sp. Fluval U3, Elite Mini for extra circulation. In theory dosed with liquid carbon but I've been busy so have been skipping it a fair bit.

Sugestions? I did a blackout a few weeks back, which was fine but only temporary. I don't want to do another one just yet because the betta is looking a bit dodgy and want to keep an eye on it.

how often are you doing water changes?

do you have any TPN plus?

i would up the water changes and scrub on every water change. I would also look at getting some TPN plus.

Hm. Anywhere other than AE sell it? They're out of stock at the moment. Or any alternatives (like 'own brand' versions)?

Easylife do a 'Nitro' which contains N03,there are other brands about but it would be cheaper to do the tpn route.

Fishy
try adding 2x 2pence coins to your filter.
the small amount of copper that will be released will kill the BGA and keep it at bay
it will be too small an amount to register on any copper test so should be safe for even snails (if you have any)
