Is it effective to remove and treat only the parts of my tank that are affected by the bga?

The large rocks are affected and a few of the artificial plants, also two sword plants, but not the anubias.

If I choose to remove my fish and treat w/antibiotics, do I have to start all over again cycling the water? I have never had to use antibiotics.

The tank is 29 gal. with 2-3 inches gravel. Set up for two years.

Power head with small amount of bubbling. Hanging filtration. Beautiful sailfin mollies that I raise.

Thanks for the help. dee dee

Removing as much as you can rid you of it, the antibiotics do work but as you say are bad for the filter. A complete blackout, that is the tank is kept in complete darkness, covering with refuse sacks works well for three full days will kill it. Remove as much as you can before the blackout and after it clean filter and substrate well while doing a 50% water change. It might seem extreme but the fish will be fine. Good water circulation really helps the bga doesn’t like much current.
