ok i need a quick answer
during the blackout it says you have to use an airstone,do i have to run my external filter as well
thanks for any help
mister-t

YES!!!!!
else the beneficial bacteria will die,
your external filter should NEVER be turned off except for cleaning

And very important:

No peeking
No Feeding

Your fish will be OK for a few days without food.

well the blackouts complete, cant see any difference at all, maybe i didnt do the blackout for long enough
i know for a fact that no light got in the tank, maybe ill do it again when the fish and plants have recovered for 4 days next time

How long did you leave it for? You sure its BGA?

Sam

i left it for 3 days,am i sure its bga no not really, all i know is it grows on my sand, remove it and a couple
of days later its back, the good thing is some of my plants enjoyed the blackout,as some have suddenly perked up
mister-t

at the moment my camera is broke, but i have a feeling theres a possibilty it coud be rhizoclonium, but all my stats are good, and my plants are growing really well so i dont understand why this has happened
im considering removing the sand completely, and putting fresh clean sand back in,but if i dont know whats causing this then it will only re-appear again.
