I have had to put my 2 BA tetras into little fry tanks while I get a new tank set up for them. They ate one of my guppies tails!
What would be some good tank mates for them when the new tank is ready for them?
It is a 10.5 Gallon tank

That tank is way too small for even two Buenos Aires Tetras; far too boisterous to kept in a group of less than six. I had six in a forty-odd gallon tank and had to return them - they were freaking my other fish out. They need a lot of swimming space.

doh!
well what fish would you suggest to put in there then?

Hmmm, that's a dangerous question!. Assuming you'll be using a decent amount of real plants, If I were stocking a 10g, I'd go for something like any TWO groups of the following: 5 Harlequin Rasboras, 5 Pencilfish, 5 Black Neon Tetras, 3 or 4 Honey Gouramis. After a couple of months you could add 2 or 3 Otos. There's lots more; have a look at your LFS, but don't go for anything longer than, say 1 1/2 - 2 inches. A small external filter will make a big difference, too. Come back here when you have something in mind (before buying, of course!). I forgot, what shape will the 10g be?.
