Once my tank is cycled etc, I wouldnt mind getting a Betta - but Im not sure what I could put in alongside it??
I would like at least 1 bottom feeder.
I only have a 48 litre tank at the mo as well......

Any suggestions???

If not, I would like some other colourful fish, but am clueless as to what to go for with my size tank?
My brother told me to go with cichlids, as they are easy to keep and come in a range of colours etc - but I think they would outgrow my tank quickly......

guppys !!!! best fish for a person who has just started fish keeping.... they are very colorful fish :D

Guppies won't live with a betts will they?

Not very well in a tank that size. Also they're often fragile.

Best choice is one of the dwarf Corys. 6 of the same species, to be more precise :)

Guppies may torment your betta. For bottom feeders you can go with dwarf cories or otocinclus. You can also add shrimp and/or mystery snails too. Betta's are also very dependent on personality as some will kill any other fish you put in (excluding the ones I mentioned before) or be completely peaceful, as my peaceful one lived with platies, swordtails, and skirt tetras. You may be able to add a platy or two but you'll have to experiment.

If you want cichlids instead, then the only type you can put in a 48 liter would be shell dwellers (Neolamprologus multifasciatus). Full of personality but not very colorful.

Hmm, may be better off without the Betta then.........back to searching around on what to get!!!
I guess I have plenty of time as I havent properly started cycling my tank yet! lol

If it's colour you'd really like, endlers and guppies would be brilliant. :good:
